Barry L Shoop

2016 IEEE President

Endorsements

When Barry was serving as IEEE MGA VP, MGA launched the MGA Challenge in 2010, a very interesting challenge that solicited proposals for projects to deliver tangible member products, services, and increase the value of IEEE membership. My project, IEEE Day, was one of the 4 winning projects, and thanks to that I was very honored to work with Barry and his teams. In 2013, more than 400 events were organized around the world to celebrate IEEE Day. This success year over year wouldn't have happened without the trust and unconditioned support of Barry for the first edition in 2010. He gave me and my team all the necessary resources. He also followed-up very closely on our progress with regular check-points, providing guidance and all the needed support.

Barry was a big source of inspiration for me, I learned a lot from his leadership, strategic thinking, and his wonderful and valuable support to IEEE volunteers around the world, and for advancing technology for humanity.

I have known Barry for many years and I have always seen a long time dedicated IEEE volunteer and working leader. Barry has the advantage of having served both in academia as well as having served as a practitioner which gives him a wide range of knowledge to where IEEE should focus effort and resources. His passion for IEEE activities, his involvement in many facets of IEEE, other organizations and institutions provides the necessary connections and experience to work on his position statement to increase value to our members, our profession and the public.

I strongly endorse Barry as a candidate for IEEE President
